CHILDREN OF TANZANIA & UGANDA

To my close friends and family,

I will be embarking on a volunteer trip throughout Tanzania and Uganda during the months of October and November. This is an adventure I have been dreaming of for sometime and now that university is over it has finally come to fruition. I will be involved in two 4-week programs and I am reaching out to give YOU the opportunity to be involved!

I will be based out of Mukono Town, Tanzania for the first 4 weeks. This program is run by a local group 'THE' (Tanzania Host Experience). This is a childcare role where I will provide assistance in centres that are under-funded and under-resourced. These centres are aimed at lower-income families and I will be involved in basic English and Math teaching, as well as cooking, cleaning, and farm work. I will also be looking after little babies here :D

The second half of my trip takes me to Entebbe, Uganda. I expect this leg of the trip to be a bit more intense in both the program I'll be joining and the country's political and economic climate. I will be working with Mercy's Nest Foundation, which is a local organisation dedicated to supporting and improving the lives of disabled children and their families. Some of the activities I will be involved in are: delivery of medications, physiotherapy, community outings (there is still a hugely negative stigma of disability in rural Uganda), in-home support for both the children and their families, small business development (accounting and marketing assistance), and elderly care.

I've always felt weird about blindly giving money to charities so I think this is a unique opportunity for you to follow along my trip on Instagram where you can get a real look at where your donation is going.

The trip has been entirely funded personally so this gofundme will go solely to THE and Mercy's Nest and I will find a way to make it transparent on how much we raised and the best way to give it to these organisations (cash is still king in Tanzania and Uganda).

I will be giving both of these organisations a personal donation on top of this fundraiser, so any amount you wanted to contribute is a bonus :)
