Our names are Ellen and Orla and we are final year occupational therapy students. For one of our final year placements we have decided to travel to Cambodia to provide occupational therapy to children with additional needs, a service which these children otherwise would not receive.
These children have conditions such as cerebral palsy, spina bifida and HIV among many others. These children are in a rehab facility which does not provide occupational therapy and therefore they are missing out on a service which would greatly improve their quality of life.
The aim of this project is to increase the children’s independence by overcoming the struggles caused by their conditions. We aim to assist the children in reaching their essential developmental milestones so that they can reach their full potential as they mature.
This project is so important to us as we believe every child deserves the same access to healthcare that we have in Ireland and the UK.
We would massively appreciate any help you can give us in achieving our goal in Cambodia!
