CHILDCARE FOR MONIVEA

 

Monivea National School currently rents out a facility within the school grounds to a private entity who provides a Montessori Pre-School, Breakfast Club and After-School Childcare Service. Due to growing numbers and needs within the National School, there is no longer enough room to rent this space to the Childcare service, who must now have an alternative facility organised before June 2023. The previous premises that was used prior to renting from the school is no longer available, and no other suitable facility for childcare could be found in the vicinity. It appeared as though the Childcare Service we rely on here in Monivea would simply have to close.

 

The Monivea Hall Committee (Fr. Salmon Centre) then came forward and offered a newly built room at the back of the hall as an option. The room was originally built for storage; there are no electrics, plumbing, ceilings, or insulation. Major works must be completed to bring this to a standard whereby Tusla will approve it for a rentable childcare facility.

 

CHILDCARE FOR MONIVEA is a community group who have come together to make this renovation happen in order to retain our Childcare Service in Monivea village that we so desperately need. The aim is not to equip the room with all that is needed for Montessori class, it is simply to bring the room up to a standard for the Hall whereby Top Marks Montessori (Hazel McNulty) can then paint, decorate and design a room, using their existing equipment and supplies, to make this room a place that is safe and suitable for our kids. The facility would then be rented from the Fr. Salmon Centre on a monthly basis, something that would bring considerable revenue to our Parish Hall.

 

The structural and building works have been estimated to cost a whopping €60,000. We have started our fundraising journey with this GoFundMe page in the hopes that anyone who can spare any amount of money could donate to this community initiative. It will not only save our childcare service in Monivea, but also bring much-needed life and money back to our Fr. Salmon community centre.
