Chicago Cleanup Crew

We're a group of Chicagoans dedicated to the advancement of the Black Lives Matters movement through peaceful protest. Additionally, we acknowledge that looting and vandalism are real manifestations of pain and outrage against a system that systemically works against people of color.

In the wake of escalated protests that may result in vandalism or looting, we are committed to organizing grassroots cleanup and beautification efforts to help the city of Chicago rebuild and advance toward a brighter, more inclusive future that values black lives. Additionally, we are committed to working with community leaders in otherwise neglected areas of Chicago to ensure our commitment to black Chicagoans. 

What started off as a group of 5 friends riding our bikes down into the downtown Chicago after a night of unrest has since turned into over 1,200 people dedicated to our mission of amplifying black voices through community involvement. The money raised will go toward paying artists we commission for our window-board beautification projects, supplies, transportation costs, and other costs that make our projects accessible to people of all backgrounds that may encounter roadblocks due to COVID-19.
