We are Kyunghee (also go by Faith) and Leo Chen. We have been married for 8 years and together for 12 years. We have been on a journey to extend our family, in hopes to bring a little one into our loving home.
Prior to thinking about adoption, we were on another baby journey- IVF in the year 2014 and 2015. Leo has a rare genetic condition called Klinefelter Syndrome that left us with a miracle of possibly conceiving through IVF. His urologist told us that it would be the only option if we could conceive naturally. With all of our hopes and prayers in one basket, we went for it. We kept a blog here https://racetothebump.wordpress.com/ to document this season of our life. It did not leave us with a pregnancy and a baby, however. It was the biggest heartbreak we have ever experienced.
With much prayer, full 2 years of healing (still healing!), we have decided to take courage (again!) and pursue adoption as our last hope. We know it in our hearts that we are meant to be parents and you are a huge part of making that happen! God is continuing to prepare our hearts daily.
As you can imagine, adoption is expensive. We have started the process in April of 2017 and are working with Bethany Christian Services. We are working towards an International Adoption from South Korea. We feel the call to raise a child in an environment and culture that is similiar to their own. Here is the link that tells you in detail the cost of adoption through Bethany Christian Services along with international fees: On the link, simply put our zipcode (48197) and select South Korea. Estimated fees should appear. : https://www.bethany.org/adoption/international-adoption/fee-calculator
We want to assure you that ALL of the funds collected here will be used strictly for adoption purposes. South Korea has the adoptive parents travel to the country two times: one for court and one to bring the child home. The travel fees shown on the website is limited to the actual travel. It does not include lodging, food, etc. We are asked to stay possibly a month. This also means most likely taking an unpaid leave from both of our jobs, for each visit.
We will need the funds as soon as possible because each step we take with Bethany Christian Services, it costs us money. The faster we can do the work on our end, the sooner we will be matched with a child.
Although the IVF failed, we have hope that God is using adoption to grow our family. We simply cannot do this without YOU!
Thank you in advance for your encouragement, prayers, and financial support.
