Chelsea's Service & Research Trip to Ghana!

Hi everyone!
My name is Chelsea Sparrow, graduating senior at Howard University, and this year, I've been granted the privilege of traveling to Ghana with the Young AfricanA Leadership Initiative (YAALI)!
YAALI at Howard University aligns with President Obama’s YALI program committed to investing in development partnerships in Africa. Their mission is to allow young Africana (African American, Caribbean, and Latin American) student leaders to obtain the skills, research, and service learning experiences necessary to be thoughtful global citizens. In visiting Africa, we'll gain the educational experience of a lifetime, reconnecting with and servicing the origin of civilization.
On this year's trip, we'll have the opportunity to volunteer with the Oduko Secondary School and Orphanage, the Nzulezo Hospital Clinic, and the FOCOS (Foundation of Orthopedics and Complex Spine) Orthopedic hospital in Accra. As for our travel experience, we'll be visiting a number key historic sights such as the Kakum National Rainforest, the Ghana Parliament, and the River of Last Bath (where the slaves took their last bath before arriving at the slave castles in Cape Coast and Elmina). As for the research portion of our trip, I'll be studying the Ghanian education system, surveying both students and teachers to understand how they respond to the changing needs of students in today's technological age.
This cultural/educational excursion is $3600 in total, and I'm looking to raise money to cover my flight, room and board, and any other necessary materials. Any contributions, no matter the size, would be greatly appreciated. Please know that this experience will be integral to my development as an enlightened global citizen, and I thank you in advance for your support in this journey!
