I'm Just One Person trying to make a difference in the Chelsea neighborhood, one tree pit and one bike lane micro-garden at a time.

I purchase the plants, maintain and water the gardens to prevent them from
becoming garbage pits. The City does not!
In Sept 2021, the Today Show on NBC did a feature story on me:
If you've ever stopped to appreciate the gardens as you walk by, then it's mission accomplished.
Unfortunately, it's really not a 'just one person' job. And the environment to maintain the gardens on the busy streets of Manhattan is brutally harsh. Trash always ends up in them, drought and heat take their toll, and then there is theft. People often think the beds are a free-for-all and they pluck the plants right out!
A few of the beds have even had vehicles crash into them and wipe them out completely.
It costs over $125/bed per year to keep them looking good in every season. Some of the beds need iron fencing which can cost approx $2000/garden. This campaign is also to add fencing to some of them.
Now's your chance to do your part.
You can be Just One Person too!
Contribute what you can to be a part of the beautification.
No contribution is too small. And it's all appreciated!
I thank you! Our neighbors thank you! The visitors thank you! The birds and butterflies thank you!
David
