Chefs Against Covid is aimed to provide free meals to our local hospital staff, nurses, first respondents, and private nursing home caretakers who have emerged as heroes during this COVID-19 pandemic. As they are bravely facing the virus and keeping all of us safe, we want to take at least one stress out of their lives by bringing a meal to them. This initiative also helps local restaurants with additional business during this difficult time that they are facing financially.
We are students from High School District 211 located in Palatine, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. We are raising funds through GoFundMe, where citizens can donate money to help us buy meals from local restaurants for medical staff and first respondents. Once we have a sizable amount of funds and participating restaurants, we will start contacting local hospitals, nursing homes, and other medical facilities to spread the word to our healthcare professionals.
We understand that these are trying times, and everyone is under a lot of stress right now. We hope that through this project, we will be able to do what little we can to help. If you could donate even just a little bit, it would really help our cause as well as help our community recover.
At the moment, we have one interested restaurant lined up. If you could also spread the word to other local restaurants in the area, it would really help our cause. We will periodically keep updates on this page as this initiative progresses.
