My name is Gannon Tighe. I’m starting this fundraiser because I personally believe our city can lead by example in honoring something that matters deeply to me: the value of free speech and the courage to stand firm in our beliefs, even when we disagree.
The recent assassination of Charlie Kirk shook me to my core. Like many of you, I admired his passion for speaking boldly, for challenging ideas, and for reminding us that the freedom to speak openly is one of the cornerstones of our nation. When I saw what happened, I felt angry, hurt, and honestly helpless. But as I prayed on it, I realized that doing nothing was not an option.
This project is my way of turning grief and anger into something constructive, something that can bring our community together instead of pulling us apart. I want to create a public memorial or mural, not just to remember Charlie Kirk, but to remind all of us that our differences don’t have to divide us. Instead, they can make us stronger if we keep talking, keep listening, and keep standing up for the truth.
As a Christian, I believe that we are called to be bold in our faith and steadfast in our love for others. This mural will not only honor Charlie’s life but also serve as a visible symbol of hope, courage, and unity in the face of violence and division.
How the funds will be used:
• Commissioning an artist & purchasing supplies (paint, protective coatings)
• Securing city permits and approvals
• Equipment for safe installation (lifts, scaffolding)
• Long-term upkeep of the mural so it remains a strong and lasting tribute
My goal is to raise $5,000 to bring this vision to life. Every dollar will go directly toward making this memorial possible.
If you share my belief in free speech, in community, and in the power of faith to overcome tragedy, I invite you to join me. Whether by donating, sharing this campaign, or simply spreading the message of unity and courage, you are helping show Norfolk and Nebraska that we will not be silent, we will not be divided, and we will continue to stand for freedom.
Thank you for standing with me, for standing for free speech, and for helping keep Charlie’s memory alive here in our community.
