Charleston Fireman Needs our Help
Donation protected
On January 4th, Brother Scott McWethy experienced a cardiac event while on duty for the City of Charleston Fire Department. Thanks to the swift actions of multiple agencies, Brother McWethy was promptly transported downtown and immediately underwent life-saving surgery. A 100% blockage was successfully removed, saving his life. We express deep gratitude to the doctors, CCEMS, Mount Pleasant, and Charleston Fire for their rapid response and assistance.
Regrettably, under current South Carolina law, heart attacks are not considered eligible for workers' compensation claims. We appeal for support from family, friends, and compassionate strangers to alleviate the financial strain that Scotty and his family are facing.
As we rally around our Brother during this challenging time, we are committed to addressing this issue at the State Level to prevent such injustices from occurring in the future.
Scotty has been on medical leave for over a month, depleting his sick and vacation time to the point of experiencing pay deductions. Any contribution, no matter how small, would greatly assist our brother and his family.
Thank you for your generosity and support.
