Aloha Family and Friends Our superhero, Charles Oliveira, has been courageously battling cancer for more than a year. In February 2024, he faced a Stage 3 colon cancer diagnosis and underwent surgery to remove tumors from his colon, resulting in the use of an ostomy bag. With unwavering determination, Charles fought against the disease and completed 12 rounds of chemotherapy between May and November of 2024. His perseverance paid off as he achieved remission, bringing immense joy and pride to all who supported him. However, this elation was short-lived as new challenges emerged in his journey.
In April, Charles was hospitalized due to abdominal pain, initially thought to be caused by scar tissue. However, during surgery, numerous tumors were found throughout his gut, leading to pain and blockage complications. The news of the cancer's return was heartbreaking. Subsequently, Charles underwent a second surgery to address the blockages and remove some of the tumors. Following a 29-day hospital stay, he was discharged to focus on recovery. The goal was to recuperate from the surgery and promptly resume chemotherapy treatment..
After several days, the unbearable pain resurfaced, leading to his readmission to the hospital on May 28th. The following day, doctors delivered the heartbreaking news that the cancer had metastasized, spreading further in his abdomen and reaching his liver. It was a devastating moment when we learned that chemotherapy was no longer a viable option. Charles has now entered Stage 4 and is facing a terminal prognosis with limited time left. Despite it all, he continues to confront the pain with unwavering spirits and deep faith. While we hold onto hope for a divine intervention, we are also preparing for whatever lies ahead in Charles's journey.
Although Charles has found peace with his diagnosis and trusts in God’s divine plan for him, his greatest concern lies with the children he will soon part from. As a single father of six - four boys and two girls - he serves as their pillar of strength. He is not only their emotional support but also the sole provider for his youngest son, Chamberlin, who is 12 years old and managing Type 1 Diabetes. Additionally, his youngest daughter, Chaeli, is embarking on her first year of college.
His ultimate wish is for this GoFundMe campaign to be devoted to meeting the needs of his children. The funds raised will assist in supporting them. Primarily covering Chamberlin's medical expenses and care, while also providing financial support for Chaeli's education.
Please consider donating to help support Charles' children during this difficult time. Any amount, no matter how small, will make a difference in their lives as they navigate this challenging journey without their loving father. Your generosity and kindness are truly appreciated. Together, we can provide him with the strength and comfort he needs to face these difficult moments with resilience and hope. Let us stand by our hero, Charles Oliveira, as he continues to fight bravely against cancer.
