Charity Walk - Charlie Chaplin's Kennington

Come join us from 11am – 1pm on Sunday the 27th July as we walk the streets of Charlie Chaplin’s childhood in Kennington, South London.

By his early 30s Charlie Chaplin was one of the most famous and richest men in the world. Based in Hollywood he helped define the film industry as we know it, and gained both popular and critical acclaim for the movies he wrote, produced, directed and starred in.

Before finding fame Chaplin spent the first 20 years of his life in a small area of Kennington. He and his family lived in extreme poverty, experiencing destitution and family breakdown. Despite these hardships this time in his life, and the streets of Kennington, were to remain with him personally and artistically as he achieved global stardom.

During the walk we'll explore some of the places where Chaplin lived, played and worked (and how they were frequently portrayed in his films), and how his childhood in South London had a lasting impact on his life.

Minimum donation of £15 per person – please make your donation here and we will contact you through GoFundMe to confirm your place.

All money raised will be donated to Nazari Degar, a charity supporting children with Down's syndrome in Tajikistan.
