A group of 7th Epsom Explorers are going to undertake an overnight charity hike from our base at the Epsom Methodist Church to Leith Hill in order to raise money for Under One Sky – our chosen charity of the year. We thought it would be good to experience what it is like to be out of our comfortable beds overnight, giving us an insight into the experience of people who are homeless and live on the streets throughout the year.

We are going to start the hike at approximately 9.30 on the evening of Friday 27th June and walk through the night to arrive at Leith Hill at around 4.00 on Saturday morning, in time to watch the sun rise, then cook ourselves some bacon sandwiches in celebration!

The charity Under One Sky’s main activity is outreach in the form of Skywalks; where their teams walk the streets to connect with homeless friends and provide life essentials (food, water, hot drinks, clothing…) as well as offering practical help and befriending. Through their work they also aim to expand the public’s understanding of the root causes and the human reality of homelessness.

7th Epsom Explorers have supported Under One Sky for a couple of years now, last year raising over £800 for them. This year we have raised just under £600 already. Please help us to raise as much as we can. Thank you :)
