Charitable Work in Lesotho
Donation protected
Hello I am Gearóid Ryan and I am delighted to have been chosen to take part in my School’s African Immersion Experience with my fellow classmates this Easter in Lesotho - a small independent country in the centre of Southern Africa.
Lesotho is one of the poorest countries on the planet. Over 30% of its people live in extreme poverty on less than 1.25 dollars a day. Unfortunately many children in Lesotho suffer with HIV and only 57% of them are being treated. Lesothos economy is based on small scale agriculutre and any poverty reduction efforts was crippled by a devastating drought in 2015 and 2016.

I hope to make a contribution in Lesotho by simply putting myself at the service of the local community. In the past students have made a significant contribution to the people of Malelea by helping to build new playgrounds, installing new books to support their education and integrating with the local children and teenagers.
I hope to be open to learn from the Basotho people and return home enriched by their welcome.
Our Families will bear the cost of our travel/accommodation – and we are the workforce once we get to our base at Malealea. So I am writing to ask for your generous help to enable us to bring – in addition to our presence this essential financial aid to the people who struggle every day to make ends meet. No amount is ever too small – and no amount is ever too big - and you can be sure that every cent will go to the Malealea Community itself.
Thank you for reading this far – and please be assured of the gratitude
