Channelling Great Dreams with Gerrard Gosens
Channelling Great Dreams with Gerrard Gosens
Great Dreams is delighted to announce our partnership with Gerrard Gosens as a mentor for one of our Great Dreams scholarship recipients and an advocate for our charity. We are excited to be a part of Gerrard’s remarkable journey to become the first totally blind person to swim the English Channel through his world’s first project 'Channelling the Great Dream” in 2024.
Gerrard's remarkable journey and accomplishments inspire us to look beyond the challenges and focus on the opportunities. A few of his many achievements include representing Australia at three Paralympic Games and the 2022 Commonwealth Games. Gerrard’s adventurous spirit has led him to literally scale new heights by climbing Mount Everest, running five times a 2000km run from Cairns to Brisbane, and co-piloting an ultralight plane throughout regional Queensland and both for charities. Gerrard competed and made it to the semi-final of “Dancing with the Stars”, again raising money for Charity. Gerrard’s values are perfectly aligned with ours, and he exemplifies the belief that with determination, one can attain extraordinary heights.
Our Great Dreams Team of volunteers is thrilled and immensely grateful for Gerrard’s commitment and support for our cause. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Gerrard for lending his expertise, passion, and time to empower our scholarship recipients and advocate for the dreams we strive to fulfill. Together, we believe that we can make a profound and lasting impact on the lives of aspiring young adults.
Gerrard will swim the 33km route from England to France beside a swim guide in mid-August 2024. Gerrard and his team of guides will face strong currents, jellyfish, freezing cold waters and passing ships. The swim will be monitored by the Channel Swimming Association and can be tracked in real-time, so you can follow this inspiring event as it happens. https://www.channelswimmingassociation.com/tracking
Great Dreams was established in 2022 and has so far provided $38,000 in educational scholarships to students pursuing a variety of disciplines and sports. With Gerrard’s help, we aim to raise awareness and financial resources for our charity and empower young people to pursue their Great Dreams.
Please join us in supporting Gerrard’s quest to raise much-needed funds over the next 12 months for Great Dreams by donating to this campaign. Gerrard intends to raise $340,000 to provide at least 34 scholarships to students in need.
