Help Marlin Become an Uber Driver in South Africa
During our recent trip to South Africa, we met Marlin, an outstanding driver who made our experience unforgettable. Always punctual, knowledgeable, friendly, and professional, he truly made us feel at home.
Marlin shared his dream of becoming an Uber driver to secure a better life for his family. Unfortunately, his situation took a downturn when his boss sold the car he was using for work, leaving him without a vehicle or income. Despite this, Marlin remains determined to get back on his feet and support his loved ones.
Why This Matters
In South Africa, driving for Uber provides a crucial opportunity for financial independence. For Marlin, this would mean:
✅ A stable income and financial security
✅ The ability to work on his own terms
✅ A brighter future for his family
Marlin has the chance to rent an Uber car, but he needs a deposit of $15,000 ZAR (645 GBP) to get started. This deposit is the only thing standing between him and a fresh start. Marlin will buy back the car over 60 months with monthly payments of $5,500 ZAR (236 GBP), which includes insurance. He expects to earn $700-900 ZAR (30-40 GBP) per day driving for Uber.
Our Goal
If we raise more than the deposit, we aim to buy Marlin a secondhand car outright for $129,995 ZAR (5,500 GBP), giving him an asset and greater financial security. Should we exceed this target, we could help him purchase a brand-new car for $196,999 ZAR (8,400 GBP).
The donations will be paid directly to the car company and any additional donations will go directly to Marlin for insurance, petrol, and permits.
How You Can Help
We need your support to help Marlin make this dream a reality. Every contribution—big or small—will go directly toward his Uber deposit. If you're unable to donate, sharing this campaign with your friends and family would mean the world to us.
Let’s join together to help Marlin build a better future!
