After nine years living mostly in caravans in rural Alentejo, I finally have the chance to move into a house – a stable base to build my life and community projects. I’m inviting friends and family to help make this next chapter possible.
I’ve been offered a rare opportunity to move into a house in January. It will need some work, but having secure accommodation and a proper contract would be a real turning point, giving me the stability to settle and focus on what I’m building here.
I work locally in tourism as a property manager and take on practical jobs – gardening, sewing repairs, cleaning, construction support – whatever’s needed. Life here is simple and the income modest, but it has deeply shaped me and strengthened my connection to the community.
I live with an autoimmune condition, which limits the physical work I can do. Over the past year, practical expenses – a second-hand van for work, repairs, and now moving costs – have added up just as this opportunity appeared.
Alongside this, some exciting things are growing. I’m approaching a year and a half of sobriety, and with that clarity I’ve been developing plans for a creative, sober space for young people – teaching skills like sewing, woodwork, and artistic expression. Thanks to friends and neighbours, we’re already preparing to welcome teenagers next summer, even before formal funding is in place.
Support now would help me make this transition with stability rather than strain. I’m hoping to raise around €8,000 to cover moving costs, essential equipment, and transport. Any amount – or simply your encouragement – truly means a lot. I’ll do my best to return your support in every way I can, through friendship, creativity, and service.
Thank you for being part of my life.
With love,
Rowan
