Champions For Children - Talk, Read & Sing Signs

Hi, my name is Parker Demarcay and I am in the final stages of my Eagle Project for Boy Scouts. I have been a scout for ten years and I'm reaching the biggest milestone in my journey. My final project is to help the charity Champions for Children by designing and installing signs for its Talk, Read and Sing program. I have designed and will be installing double-sided signs talking about the importance of talking, reading, and singing to your children to support a better family lifestyle. Some scouts and I will install these in the Town 'N Country Park near an elementary school and the Boys and Girls Club, which is in an underprivileged area.

Champions for Children was founded in 1977 and aims to prevent abuse and neglect before it even begins. The Talk Read and Sing program is a national program and encourages all parents to talk, sing and read to their children as much and as early as possible, building attachments and laying the groundwork for healthy brain development and parent-child attachment at the most critical stage. Tampa has been designated as the 27th “Talking Is Teaching: TALK READ SING Community” in the United States and the second in Florida by the national Talking is Teaching campaign office out of the Too Small To Fail Foundation.
