Hi friends!

My name is Nirasha, and I am a mother to four wonderful children, with a loving husband and a happy family life here in Ottawa. Life, however, has taken a heartbreaking turn. Recently, my husband was diagnosed with lung cancer, and it has spread to his right kidney, liver, and brain. He has been undergoing treatment at The Ottawa General Hospital since the 4th of January 2025, but this journey has been a long and difficult one.

In this moment of overwhelming uncertainty, neither my husband nor I can work. The weight of his illness, combined with the responsibility of taking care of our children and our household, has become almost too much to bear. Each day feels like a balancing act, where I’m trying to keep everything together, but it's hard. The emotional toll is great, but the financial strain is becoming unbearable.

With the mounting daily living expenses and the need for additional care for my husband, I am now spending over CAD 6000 a month, despite not having enough income to cover these costs. The impact on my ability to work has been profound. I need to be there for my husband, and for my children, but I’m finding it increasingly difficult to juggle everything.

I am reaching out in the hope that your generous support could help ease some of these burdens during this incredibly challenging time.
