Hi, all. We are not ones who would ever consider asking for help, but we are backed into an impossible corner.
My name is Danielle Bergstad. My husband, Quentin, lost his father, Chad, to a heart attack on September 23rd. This came as a huge shock to the entire family and we are all grieving his loss. Chad left behind his 3 children: Quentin, Lance, and Olivia, who is only 13.
Chad had no living will and left nothing behind for his children. With Quentin being next of kin as the oldest child, the burden of paying for a funeral and the remainder of Chad’s debt has fallen to him.
The house Chad lived in is condemned due to Chad’s mental illness. He struggled with depression and addiction for many years and the house got away from him. We found out today that the taxes have not been paid in 3 years and the county planned to seize it this afternoon. With the help of family, we were able to pay the taxes for one year, so, thankfully, Quentin has some time to go through the house to hopefully find some sentimental objects to keep. We thank those who helped with this; it means more to us than you know.
Quentin and I share two small children and a majority of our paychecks go to our monthly bills and necessities for our children. We were barely afloat before this unthinkable tragedy happened and we have nowhere to turn to.
We aren’t asking for you to save our ship; we would never ask that of you. We ask that you consider helping with our added expenses that are accumulating after Chad’s death. This includes: the funeral, taxes on Chad’s house, a lawyer, and any more of Chad’s debt that unexpectedly falls into our lap.
A huge thank you in advance just for reading this far. We appreciate each and every one of you. Anything helps, whether it’s one dollar or even a share of our story.
The Bergstads
