Chaandni Balachandran: Aid Volunteer for Hridayam Foundation
Donation protected
Hi everyone!
My name is Chaandni, a fourth year medical student from Imperial College London, and this summer I have the amazing opportunity to volunteer with the Hridayam Foundation as part of a student outreach team!
The Hridayam Foundation is a charitable organisation that serves to tackle heart disease in rural and underserved communities in Bihar, India, with limited or no access to resources for diagnosis and treatment of heart disease. Rural Bihar has a major shortfall in the number of healthcare centres of 93% making it much harder for residents to seek the help they need. Therefore, the free consultations and healthcare awareness programmes set up by the charity are vital.
The foundation relies on charitable donations and volunteer work and I will be joining this inspiring team this summer from the 19th of June to the 3rd of July to assist in clinics and raise community awareness of heart disease.
However, none of this is possible without your help and donations to enable us volunteer. Any extra proceedings will go towards medications and equipment for the charity.
