Centennial Student Film

Our Story:

We are 5th-semester filmmaking students at Centennial College who are currently working on our cumulative project, a 15-minute film funded and shot by us, and you can take part too! We are a crew of 13 students who are dedicated to getting a positive message out into the world. We would like to tell a story about how addiction can bring stress to a family, but also bring families together. Inspired by films like “Beautiful Boy” we would like to showcase life after recovery and help to garner new insight toward those who are recovering.

Logline:

Brett Sweeney, a recovering addict, comes home from rehab after being gone for nine months. Struggling to reconnect with his family, Brett has to earn their trust.

Summary:

Clean is a heartfelt drama that follows Brett, a young man returning home after completing rehab, as he struggles to reconnect with his family. With fragile relationships and unspoken wounds. Brett must confront the consequences of his past while seeking forgiveness and a chance at redemption, as he navigates the complexities of sobriety, family tensions, and personal guilt. Clean delves deep into the themes of addiction, recovery, and the difficult path toward healing. This film paints a raw yet hopeful portrait of the power of vulnerability and the strength found in second chances.

Message From Writer/Director:

Hey, I’m Marek Blundell and I am a 5th semester student at Centennial College. This film aims to give an insight into the lives of those recovering from substance addiction, and those who were affected by a loved one’s addictions. Coming from a family affected by addictions this story means the world to me, and I hope to provide a view into the lives of addicts after.

Message From Producer:

My name is Anthony Trigiani-Kirkwood, I'm a 5th semester film student at Centennial College. In my life I've had many people close to me lose themselves to addiction. This film stands for a lot, its about evolving as a person and bettering yourself not only for you, but for the ones around you. A value that drives me as a person and an artist.
