Hi, I lost my husband Tony after a long and brave fight against cancer. We have been together over two thirds of our life, which has been lived to the fullest.
Whether it was during his work life, rising through the ranks within the fire and security business or in his 51 years of gigging with more bands than I would like to recall. Tony believed in people. From mentoring and training apprentices, helping people learn new skills or running jam sessions to allow inexperienced musicians a change to play - he believed in giving back.
After his first cancer, he had to retire from work on medical grounds. This lead to a huge impact on both our lives, but instead of regretting this - Tony turned this around and embraced new opportunities. Learning the ukulele, teaching himself wood work and as always playing and building electronics. As he became fitter he joined myself in Newlands Community Group, becoming communications officer. He developed our website, made the stalls you have seen at the fetes and gave continual support both to the group and individuals.
I have been asked by a number of people about memorial / activity to honour his memory and leave a legacy from his time. This is to carry on giving back to the community in his name.
This is the purpose of this fund raiser, so if you can help in some small way please donate to this.
