Celebrate Champ's Life: Support His Memorial
Donation protected
In this moment, as a community, we are mourning the loss of Champ Kapinos-Dock, a beloved father and friend to many. Champ's life came to a tragic end at the age of 40 underneath the stars on the shores of Lake Michigan. Champ's legacy will be carried on within our two children, Ka'eo and Liliana, whose lives will never be the same without him standing at their side. Champ's favorite thing in life was to make memories with them; he enjoyed these moments so much he rarely stopped to photograph them. Champ was at every birthday and family gathering, and not only did we share two beautiful children, he helped co-parent a family of five children, and my husband gained a new best friend.
Champ was an artist, and his art shined through every bit of his soul, from the comfort of his home, the style he wore his clothes, and mostly through his passion for creating delicious masterpieces for people to dine on. Champ built the skills for his success through many local establishments, including The Waverly Inn and Pub, Green Street Food and Spirits, and lastly at Brick's Downtown Bar and Grill, where he found his second family. He would be so proud of them for staying open during this time; we can hear him say, "The show must go on." Speaking with the staff at Brick's, they would love for anyone to stop down and share a story to help the grieving process. We will all miss the smiles Champ brought with him everywhere he went; his spirit will shine through each memory made.
Champ's son Ka'eo is following his father's legacy and is working at Brick's Downtown Pub and Grill, and knowing he will continue to be surrounded with love helps bring peace to us during this time. Due to the abrupt and unexpected circumstances surrounding his passing, our family is now facing the financial burden of giving Champ the memorial he deserves. Champ was selfless, and we would like to celebrate his life in a way that brings smiles instead of tears, as this is what he would have wanted. He would have wanted his memory to be of the love shared and the smiles brought to many. Please contribute if you are able or take a moment to share our story; any excess proceeds will be put into a trust for his children, Ka'eo and Liliana.
