Help support Margarete’s journey to stability! Celebrating 55 years of an awesome person!
Margarete is a phenomenal person. Warm, funny, and considerate, she has spent her life being an integral part of her friends and family, taking care of our 86-year-old mother and being there for all of us.
Life has thrown her a lot of challenges—living with diabetes, employment challenges as a result of the necessary care that comes with this condition. She does her best by working in retail over the last 10 years with a smile on her face and a great deal of customer service.
She has had numerous challenges getting government support and was managing until last month when she lost her job. She has continued to apply for retail jobs and other jobs, and has managed to get a job for one day a week, but it’s just not enough to cover her bills. Growing debt is also impacting her mental health, which in turn is aggravating her diabetes.
Her family and doctors are here to help her, but there are limits on their ability to support her. Money will make a big difference!
This year, she turned 55, and we would like to give her a celebratory gift to thank her for all she has done over the years for us, but also help her on her journey to stability. Our goal is to get her living independently and debt-free so she can continue her search for a job and concentrate on her health.
Help us celebrate 55 years of Margarete by donating what you can!
And it’s a surprise thank you gift, so, shhhh….
UPDATE:
Message from Margarete!
Dear Friends!
When my sister revealed that she had started a GoFundMe for my benefit, I was very surprised. What she wrote made me cry... so sweet and heart-felt.
It's been a difficult few years with my heath. My many health conditions (largely due to diabetes which has affected other organs) has deteriorated to such a degree within the last 10 years that I've had to give up working in graphic design and my stint as production manager in theatre, and am now down to working 1 day per week at a store I love.
Your generosity is just what I needed to get me to financial stability, so I can concentrate on my health & caregiving for my mother. It warms my heart to feel such an outpouring of love from you all!
Yours, Margarete
