CERCONDESO Guesthouse with CAUKIN Studio

Hi everyone, I'm Ellie :)

I'm excited to share that this July I will be taking part in an 8 week live design and construction project with CAUKIN Studio. The project is to build a guesthouse, including accommodation spaces and a shared cooking/cleaning/dining area for CERCONDESO’s Cidokom Centre in Indonesia. The Center for Rural Community Development and Social Entrepreneurship provides educational opportunities to those in rural communities of Indonesia, and the addition of new facilities would help to expand their charitable work.

As a thank you for your donation, I am hosting an open house event on Sunday 23rd June with tea, coffee and cake and a little presentation explaining more about the trip. LITTLE BIT MORE ABOUT THE PROJECT..

CERCONDESO have plans to expand their facility and maximise the 2000m2 of land they have available. This future development is to include additional teaching spaces, outdoor sports areas, additional toilets, and a caretakers house. They currently have several classroom spaces, which allows them to deliver programmes for charitable, educational, social and religious purposes. Specifically they focus on human social

interaction and work with communities to empower them. They provide scholarships to rural Indonesian students, enabling them to access university.

This new structure will allow CERCONDESO to run multiday sessions and therefore welcome users from much further afield, greatly widening their reach and opportunity to create impact. This development prioritizes the utilization of local materials and vernacular design features to create a contemporary space that resonates with the village’s cultural identity and promotes environmental sustainability.
