Hello! We’re Sky and Avi. Collectively, we have 35+ years of experience living in, working for, and studying the intentional communities movement. We’re passionate about making the world a better place; intentional community is how we’ve chosen to do that.

So, what is The Next Big Step?
Our mission is to co-create a family of intentional communities (ICs) that experiment with new models for human society, unified around a common belief system
and commitment to mutual aid.
We’ve established a non-profit as a vehicle to do the work we think is necessary within three main areas:
- We will organize gatherings, engage in research, and offer consulting services to forming and transforming groups.
- We will form a new intentional community.
- We will create a Community Incubator from which to do this work and to make sure how we’re doing it is in alignment with what we want to create.
All three will feed into and inform each other and will be supported by starting to live together now.
Because of who we are and our depth of experience, we are in a unique position to learn from the generations of communitarians that have come before us and take the next big step in creating communities that can have a more significant impact on both society and individual wellbeing.
Your donation will help us do this work full-time. Baby steps are not enough. Let’s take the next big step together!
We want to do this work full-time, but we need your support. Some amount of our budget will be covered by income from consulting. But to focus on the rest of this work, we need donations from people like you. We’re looking for a total of $100K for one year to cover the Incubator expenses. But we don’t need this entire amount up front. $40K will give us what we need to get started.
We also want to make it clear that an even bigger step is possible with more funding. We’ve also created a $1 Million budget, which would allow us to expand and accelerate our work by engaging more collaborators and creating more powerful opportunities to bring people together. We would partner with researchers, content creators, other networkers, and existing organizations. We would create more events and make those events more accessible to a broader range of folx. We could support more people in our Community Incubator and in the work of creating new intentional communities.
