Help Calgary Beyblade Community members Recover Losses

Hello everyone,
My name is Shirley.
I first signed up to become a judge when our community was barely breaking the 20 person mark - primarily to help out, when I saw how Atmos and Burg were sometimes struggling to have the events fully staffed and run well.
My wife, Ann, joined up shortly to help the community as well. Earlier this year, my wife and I knew we had to move back to Victoria for our jobs and livelihoods - we had to sell the house.
Unfortunately, our realtor was no good, and the USA tariffs had just been announced, destabilizing the market. And then, out of nowhere, this individual known as "KingAce" approached us, having joined the local CBC community recently - he offered to privately purchase our house. We had never sold a house before.
He convinced us to get rid of our realtor, claimed to have a trust fund... and also spun us a sob story about coming from a broken family, how he uses Beyblade to escape the pain... and we believed him. And then he needed money for a car loan.
We lent him $8500. He would go on to impersonate a local lawyer, send us lengthy emails about how he's in divorce court and how we shouldn't contact him... he strung us along for 47 days, all the while the clock was ticking.
We are now at risk of losing our jobs, we couldn't pay for a home deposit, and now it's difficult for us to even move. We felt ashamed and stupid, but scammers like this rely on victims staying silent.
When we reached out to the rest of our community, we found out that we weren't the only ones. Combined with various victims, this individual has cheated the CBC community of over $10,000 CAD.
We spoke up knowing that we would likely never see our money again, but we did so to give a voice to the many voiceless victims that had been suffering in silence. We did it for justice. And now, this is all we have left.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. I hope you never encounter any scammers as insidious as this in your lifetime.
