Makin A Baby!

Mat and I have been trying to have a baby for many, many moons. Through many different methods of trying to conceive, we saw an IVF specialist in Dallas and found out that I have undetermined infertility, the most frustrating diagnosis ever. Mat, however, was fine. We went through 3 unsuccessful IUI and gave up. We had spent our savings on IUI and did not have the funds or heart to go through IVF. All I could think about was what a failure I was that I could not give my wonderful, loving husband a child.
Fast forward 5 years to Virginia. We now have been saving for a while and decided that this would be the last time that we would be able to try for a baby as I am getting older and my egg reserve is diminishing. So we sought out Dominion Fertility in Arlington. We went through all the testing again. Mat was was fine. It was me. We already knew this, but now science has found that because I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis, an autoimmune disease, 20 years ago, it makes it very, very difficult to get pregnant. I no longer have my colon and the disease is basically gone, but everything that goes along with ulcerative colitis has affected my ability to have a child. The surgeries, the inflammation, the side effects of the medication, the pain, everything that my body has gone through and goes through has had a tremendous effect on my fertility.
We have completed one round of cancelled IVF. I was able to give the doctors 6 eggs. All were fertilized but only one made it to day 5. That one was biopsied and the sample was sent to a genetics lab. The embryo came back as abnormal and if they would have implanted, I would have miscarried, causing even greater pain than what we felt when we found out the results.
We have decided to start another round in January. We have the funds for the IVF but not the medication. The medication is super expensive so we are asking others to help with this part of it.
