Cayman Islands Marathon for Palliative Care Unit Mullingar

49 donations
In memory of Dermot ‘Pops’ Cooney, who we sadly lost two years ago, leaving a tea-drinking, porridge-eating, blanket-wearing, remote-hogging, dog-walking, belly-laughing, story-telling, Guinness-loving, Liverpool-supporting, sideline-encouraging, ballad-singing, cigar-smoking, sun-soaking, back-stretching, and beach-strolling void in our lives behind, I am running the Cayman Islands Marathon on Sunday, December 7th, 2025 to raise funds for the Palliative Care Unit at Mullingar General Hospital, where Pops spent his final few weeks.
This space became a place of comfort, dignity, and support for both Pops and our family during an incredibly difficult time. We laughed, we cried, we reminisced, and though we said our final goodbyes within those four walls, it's also where we celebrated the man we loved.
All funds raised will help to ensure that patients and families who need to avail of this space in the future will find that same support, dignity, and comfort within.
I would be very grateful if you could spare a donation - no matter how small - to go towards this space that will forever hold a special place in our hearts.
Thank you,
Leanne x
