Cathy, Hal and Mark at Orphanage in Kenya

Hi. Cathy Doherty, Hal Seifert, and Mark Ruddock are planning another trip to the Children of the Rising Sun orphanage and school in Malindi, Kenya. We are asking our friends and family for monetary support to continue our work. The money we raise is to help with food, clothes, school supplies, sanitation, medicine, dentistry and improving living conditions. There is no middleman. We spend your donations directly on the needs of the children. We cover our own expenses.

There are about 60 children in the orphanage and 600 in the school.

Hal and Mark (good carpenters and plumbers and able to fix most things) will work on the sanitation issues and water storage. Their list also includes dealing with electrical problems (when there is electricity) and carpentry projects. We will stay 6 weeks.

I am Cathy, a nurse practitioner. I will work on getting kids immunised and getting dental care. I will also work on trying to improve overall health (vitamins, wound care, medications, and health education). Improving the diet is always in the plans. I buy fruits, veg, and eggs 3 times a week and chicken twice a month. I have established a food fund during past trips that I send money to monthly to help with the shortages. There is no refrigerator so I would like to buy one.
