Castlebellingham Court Revival

The outdoor basketball court in Castlebellingham has been sitting unused for a number of years. The hoops are worn out and the surrounding area has become overgrown, which means the space is no longer being used by the community.

A small group of local volunteers are planning to restore the court so it can once again be a place for kids, teenagers and adults to play basketball and spend time outdoors.

The first phase of the project is to make the court playable again. The goal is to raise €700 which will cover the cost of:

• Two new basketball hoops• Marine plywood backboards• Steel chain nets• Mounting hardware and installation materials

All labour will be carried out by volunteers. The court area will also be cleaned, weeds cut back and the surface power washed to improve the playing space.

If the initial target is reached, any additional funds will go toward further improvements such as repainting the court lines, installing solar floodlights for evening use, and adding ball-stop nets behind the hoops.

This is a small project that can bring a neglected space back into use for the community. Every contribution, no matter the size, helps move the project closer to completion.

Progress updates and photos will be shared as the work begins.
