Hi! My name is Cassie Cummings and I am a first-time political candidate running for Alderman in Ward 6 of Hendersonville, TN. I am a fiscal conservative who believes that city tax dollars are being spent irresponsibly in many ways and want to see real change take place. This cannot happen without a diverse representation of community member experiences and perspectives. I hope to be a part of this change by helping diversify the Board of Mayor and Aldermen, of which only 15% are women, despite Hendersonville's population being 52% female. Not only is it past time for us to have more women in leadership, it is also time for the next generation to step up and help lead.
I am passionate that my neighbors, the citizens of Ward 6, have a representative who will fight for the issues that matter most to them. This includes finding a way to allocate more of the city budget to the Public Works department so that we can better address the terrible road conditions and drainage issues that plague our neighborhoods, as this is the primary concern of many whom I've spoken with. In addition to protecting our wallets, I also want to protect this beautiful city by making environmentally-sound decisions. Hendersonville has tried and failed to implement a recycling program, which is unacceptable in 2020. I will advocate to make this a priority, and ensure that we utilize our existing infrastructure as new businesses move into our growing city. This is very much a grassroots campaign that I am running. I do not have near the name recognition, nor tens of thousands of dollars to pump into it, as some of my fellow candidates do. If you would like to see real change in your representation, please consider donating to my campaign, because I absolutely cannot do this without your support. Your donations will help me purchase social media ad space, as well other campaign materials, such as yard signs, t-shirts, and mailers. Without these things, there is no way that enough people will learn about my campaign for me to win against these better-known, better-funded candidates.
