I'm Tina and I've known Cass since 2010, former work colleagues and friends. This lady is one of life's pure souls, she has endured more than most she cares and tries to help and prioritse everyone she meets.
It breaks my heart what is happening to her now.
15 years ago Cass had breast cancer, she put up one hell of a fight, she lost all her hair, but she beat it with her pure determination and indomitable will.
Sadly, in March 2026 just after being made redundant, Cass found a bastard lump in her breast. They say lightening doesn't strike in the same place twice, well it has and this lump was 2 new nasty tumours which spread its way to lymph under her arm.
5 weeks ago Cass had major surgery to remove her breast along with some nodes. Its been painful, uncomfortable and turned her and her families world upside down.
This disease doesn't care and we all know someone special who it has taken or affected.
Dangling on tests to determine what comes next whether more surgery or radiotherapy with likely a loads of horrid medication to boot.
Not knowing an exact prognosis is agonising, yet this lady is so humble and approaches this familiar foe so graciously.
Now Cass would never ask anyone for help, but after she made this public earlier and knowing that I am trying to help her navigate benefits and know she won't be fit to work, will not get any additional monies, not qualify for SSP as her last post ended just before the diagnosis seems so cruel - she has enough to deal with.
I feel obligated to ask for those who know and love her to help with funds, to get her a laptop so she can keep herself occupied, put some money in her bank to take the pressure off whilst her treatment plan is finalised.
If 500 people gave £10 that would give her £5,000 which would take the stress off for the next few months.
This is my heartfelt request to you all. To give what you can to help this lady. Wholeheartedly, I know Cass would be trying to help any of us if this had smashed into any of our worlds.
This bastard disease has already had enough of her and the uncertainty and financial concerns that come with it is just too much.
So it would be wonderful for all of us to pull together to show her support. If you can donate, you should, because she deserves it and right now needs an army of support.
Thank you all in advance. Let's do something lovely for Cass.
