Casa Kama Greenhouse Project - Part 2!
Donation protected
Hi, my name is John Pisano-Thomsen. I am also known as DaddyGuru in spiritual and tantric circles abroad. I am the co-owner of Casa Kama, a "straight-friendly" spiritual center and healing sanctuary for the LGBTQ+ community, located in the beautiful rainforests of Quepos, Costa Rica about 12 km from the tourist-popular beaches of Manuel Antonio on the Pacific Ocean.
My partner, Robert, and I bought this 5,500 square meter property with the intention to also make it eco self-sustainable with farm-to-table food as much as possible. One of the keys to growing most vegetables successfully in Costa Rica is to ensure that the intensity of the sun's rays (especially in dry season) doesn't destroy the plants before they even have a chance to sprout. Although our greenhouse is sturdily built with metal pipes and held firmly into the ground with concrete pilons, the covering recommended by the original workers was incorrect using simple clear plastic tarp that became brittle and ripped within months of taking on the intensity of the sun here. To properly shelter it, we must apply environmental saran (a fibrous weave made with durable plastic fibers) that allows just enough sun in but blocks the intense heat out.
In addition, we have a 515 gallon (1,950 kiloliter) water tank attached to the gutters at the back of the Casa where we intend to feed any collected rainwater directly to the greenhouse for ample watering -- especially in dry season (November to March) where rain is very scarce (if non-existent) until the wet season begins in April.
In addition to covering the structure properly and feeding it collected rainwater, we also intend to convert a special southern offshoot of the structure into a chicken coop so that we not only can provide Casa Kama with its own fresh eggs, but chickens are the perfect insect eliminator on properties -- especially in rainforest climates where there is an overabundance of insects. To ensure we do this property, we need to implement a metal saran covering that will not only protect the chickens but facilitate flow of fresh air so the chickens do not suffocate in the coop.
Lastly, we need funds to able to purchase black soil, manure, and to fix the sliding doors mismatched and implemented by the original workers.
Thank you for your time and consideration. We are grateful for your donations.
