Building the Future of Ni Yuxibu with the Huni Kuin

From the depths of the Amazon rainforest, the Huni Kuin people of Ni Yuxibu are building a sacred space to prepare their ancestral plants, herbal extracts and herbal paths, traditional brews and to make food during their festivals and gatherings of nearby villages.
With your help, we can raise a roof to protect the fire, the pots, and the wisdom of the forest — ensuring this tradition continues to flow for generations to come.

In the heart of the Brazilian Amazon lies Ni Yuxibu, a village of the Huni Kuin people, guided by the wisdom of their shaman Txana Ixa. The Huni Kuin carry an unbroken lineage of working with sacred plants, prayers, songs, and ceremonies that connect humanity to the forest and the invisible world of spirit. Their village is a place of healing and learning — a living center of tradition where the knowledge of the forest is kept alive with deep respect and care.

Over the past years, thanks to the generosity of friends and supporters from all over the world, Ni Yuxibu has already taken important steps forward in building the infrastructure needed to support this work. With the funds that have been raised so far, the community has been able to secure the land, commission handmade stainless steel pots built by local artisans, and construct a strong firewood oven. This large oven is not only used for brewing traditional plant preparations but also for cooking food, boiling water, and serving the wider needs of the community.

Now, the next stage of this unfolding project is clear: a roof must be built to protect the outdoor oven and the work around it. In the rainforest, where rains are sudden and powerful, firewood and pots are vulnerable without shelter. A ceramic-tiled roof with proper beams, cement, and brick support will allow cooking, brewing, and other preparations to happen in all seasons without interruption. It will protect the tools, the fire, and the hard work already accomplished, while giving the structure a solid and lasting foundation.

Yet this roof is only one piece of a larger vision that the Huni Kuin of Ni Yuxibu are bringing to life. The community is working step by step to create a complete space for the preparation of plants, food, and water, and for the holding of ceremonies. The continuation of this project will include building a shaded and tiled area for cleaning and preparing plants, a dedicated place with running water for washing, and a tool shed where equipment can be safely stored. Beyond these practical structures, there are also plans to create a small caretaker’s house to watch over the grounds, and — most importantly — to establish a Copichaa Ceremony Center, a space dedicated to gathering, prayer, and healing through the ancestral traditions of the Huni Kuin people.

Every donation to this campaign directly supports the people of Ni Yuxibu in carrying this vision forward. What is being built here is more than just structures — it is the foundation of cultural survival, of spiritual continuity, and of the possibility for future generations to continue learning from the forest. Your support helps ensure that the songs, the knowledge, and the practices of the Huni Kuin will continue to flourish.

Minimum Viable Budget – Urgent First Steps

To begin the project as soon as possible, we are focusing on the most essential structures needed for daily life, preparation, and community use:

Roof for the Large Oven (incl. beams, cement, bricks): €5,750 / R$34,500

Plant Preparation & Washing Area: €8,000 / R$48,000

Tool Shed for Safe Storage: €5,000 / R$30,000

Minimum Goal: ≈ €18,750 / R$112,500

This reduced target covers the urgent needs with proper structural integrity for the oven roof, while also creating safe spaces to prepare plants, wash, and protect equipment.

Full Project Budget (Long-Term Vision)

Once the essentials are secured, we will continue fundraising for the full vision of Ni Yuxibu’s preparation and ceremony center:

Structural construction (prep areas, shed, caretaker’s house): ~€33,100 / R$198,800

Oven Roof (tiles + beams + cement + bricks): ~€5,750 / R$34,500

Ceramic tiles (prep & wash area): ~€310 / R$1,875

Local labor (team of 5 for 1 month): ~€3,750 / R$22,500

Travel & logistics (boats, fuel, materials transport): ~€1,670 / R$10,000

Contingency (10%): ~€4,300 / R$25,000

Total Full Vision: ≈ €48,900 / R$292,675

Phase-by-Phase Breakdown

Phase 1 – Roof for the Large Oven (incl. beams, cement, bricks): €5,750 / R$34,500
Phase 2 – Plant Preparation Area: €8,000 / R$48,000
Phase 3 – Washing Area & Tool Shed: €9,000 / R$54,000
