The Carterton (& Brize Coronavirus) Community Assistance Group (CCA) was set up to help support the entire local community, including the surrounding villages, in anticipation of the effects the coronavirus pandemic would have on peoples' lives.
Whether shielding, self-isolating, furloughed, made reduntant, or struggling with the daily realities of life in lockdown, the CCA has since risen to meet the needs of our community through a variety of community led initiatives to help support those in need.
The CCA now includes our dedicated Shielding Support hotline, Supply Bank, Wellbeing Service and Hot Meals Service.
The Shielding Support team put their own health at risk every day to carry out regular shopping and prescription trips for vulnerable residents shielding themselves from Covid-19.
The Supply Bank distributes weekly parcels of donated food and essential supplies to families in need. We are fortunate enough to have the support of incredible local businesses like Bourton Road Butchers and Mayfield Eggs to help make our parcels more workable to those who receive them. The funds we receive from your generous donations help us fill the gaps in the food we collect from generous locals by shopping at Cash & Carry services to ensure no one goes without.
The Wellbeing Service provides talking support and signposting guidance to residents struggling with their mental health as a result of the pandemic crisis.
Our Hot Meals service provides regular hot evening meals to vulnerable residents who are not able to cook for themselves or receive this support through conventional means as a result of the pandemic.
Any donation of any size will help us continue to provide these services throughout the coming Autumn and Winter, which will be vital to those affected most by the economic fallout and potential second wave.
