The main goal of Cartas Con Amor is to collect letters, written in Spanish by high school students, that will comfort families or individuals who are being detained at the US-Mexico border or have recently crossed into the US. These letters provide handwritten, encouraging words to Latin American immigrants.
Jackie Brown and Natalie Ionescu created Cartas Con Amor in January 2019. In March 2019, Cartas Con Amor was established as a nonprofit in the state of California.
The funds we collect through GoFundMe will be used for travel and letter supply expenses.
Our goals include, but are not limited to: -Collecting 3,000 letters during the 2019-2020 school year -Expanding to more high schools and universities (UC Berkeley, Stanford, St. Mary's, SF State, Santa Clara, DVC) throughout the state of California and beyond -Continuing our trips to San Diego twice a year -Building a volunteer team -Organizing clubs at schools
