Carrying the Weight of Dementia — For My Mother

This summer I will climb Mount Etna in Sicily, Italy — the tallest active volcano in Europe — from sea level to the summit (3,400m), carrying 20kg (45lbs) on my back.

I’m doing this for my mother, Pauline, and those affected by dementia. The money raised will go directly towards Alzheimer's Society, a volunteer-based, non-profit organisation who give vital support to those who need it, fund groundbreaking research, and campaign to improve comfort and quality of life.

Climbing a mountain won’t cure dementia.
But it is something I can do — with living abroad and unable to see my mother regularly, I refuse to let distance get in the way; therefore I am contributing whatever I can for her and those around her.

If you choose to support this challenge, you are not just sponsoring a climb — you are helping carry the weight with us.

Thank you for standing beside us.

Campaign breakdown:
• Aiming to raise £1000 for Alzheimer's Society (a non-profit charity)
• Climb Mount Etna – Sea level to summit (3400m)
• Carrying 20kg+ weight
• Finishing the climb and returning to sea level in under 24 hours
