CARRBROOK BOWLING CLUB
Hi. My name is Steve and I have set up this Gofundme page to raise funds for Carrbrook Bowling Club, following the news that they have no choice but to have a diseased Ash tree removed at their own expense. This puts their very existence in a precarious situation, as the detailed in their recent Facebook post:
‘Carrbrook Bowling Club
"For those that are not aware the Bowling Club had a recent meeting with the council regarding an ash tree within the grounds of the club that was diseased.
Unfortunately dispite our concerns there was no wriggle room and their decision was final and we have been forced to remove the tree at a cost of £1200 to the club that we can ill afford.
Had we not removed the tree the council would have started legal action against us.
The club leases the grounds from the council, but it is the clubs responsibility to maintain everything within the grounds !!!
There are over 30 trees with the grounds, so should another tree need to be removed then I'm afraid this could see the end of the club.
And I'm sure under the current financial situation we all find ourselves in, the grounds would not be maintained by the council and more than likely be sold off to a developer, as this is prime land in the centre of our wonderful village !!!!
The club would like to thank those local companies that have made a contribution towards the cost of the removal of the tree, the council did not provide any financial support regarding this matter !!!!
The tree is to be taken down on Saturday 1st October from around 8am. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause ’
It would be a tragedy to see this community asset struggle, and even fold completely.
Please donate what you can, and share amongst your friends & family.
THANK YOU
