Carol, an incredible animal welfare volunteer who has dedicated her life to supporting Enfield's feral cat colonies. Through sheer passion and selflessness, she traps and neuters feral cats for Lee Valley Cat Protection. She also helps provide food and shelter, and ensures their well-being long after they are released. Her work doesn't end with neutering; Carol takes on the ongoing responsibility of feeding and caring for these cats, even when funding is low and resources are stretched.

The Hidden Reality

What many people don’t realize is that the Cats Protection, where Carol volunteers, focuses primarily on neutering and rehoming. However, once these cats are released, their care and feeding fall entirely on volunteers like Carol. This means that day in and day out, she is out in the community, delivering food, setting up safe shelters, and tending to colonies—sometimes even feeding up to 10 cats at a time in a single garden.

The harsh reality is that cases that should be supported by larger charities often aren’t. Other larger charities no longer picks up many of these cats, leaving Carol and a few dedicated volunteers to step in, often at their own expense.

The costs are mounting. From food supplies to emergency vet bills, the financial burden is heavy, yet Carol never hesitates. She continues to deliver food daily, visit colonies, and help elderly locals who are trying their best to support cats in their gardens. But she can’t do it alone anymore—we need your help to keep her mission alive.
