Hi all,
My name is Jennifer, and I'm here on behalf of my sister, Becky, and her family. Her daughter Caroline has been diagnosed with a genetic disorder that affects her physical development. As such, Caroline has been provided a motorized wheelchair to help her get around school and accomplish daily errands.
Becky was provided an accessible van from Canuck Place which, in the 3 months she has owned it, has caused more stress than assistance. Becky had to purchase this van for $17,000. The door has fallen off twice, and repairs are seemingly impossible as the model is no longer in production, so the parts are no longer made. To purchase this van they had to sell their family car. They are now left with no form of family transportation to get to and from work or get their daughters to school. She, Caroline, and their family now have no vehicle, and she has already invested a significant amount of energy, time and money into a van that is unsafe, and unusable.
The minimum cost to purchase a reliable, used accessible van is $75,000. Please help us raise funds for Becky and Caroline so that they can have a safe form of transportation that meets their diverse needs, cover the expenses of the old van, and help us to purchase a newer one that operates safely. The sooner we can raise the funds, the sooner this family can get back on the road!
Thank you for your support and assistance!
