I have started this fundraiser for my friend, Carol Clarke. Carol is going to be homeless, living in her 20-year-old car. Carol had an extremely abusive childhood and it caused her a lot of problems with being able to keep up with her school work. Despite those hardships, she worked hard to graduate and got accepted to and graduated from Smith College. After her graduation, Carol became a lawyer fighting for the rights of employees against their employers. She had a career that she loved, but then she had a stroke that caused her a lot of complications. After healing as much as she could from the stroke with no help from her family, she realized she could not continue as a lawyer and had to stop doing what she loved. With all of the medical and hospital bills, she lost everything she had. Still no help from her family, they let her go homeless. She managed to get back on her feet and into a home again. Fast forward, She is now renting from a gentleman who is now facing issues in his life and having to make some hard decisions for himself. He has let her know that he may have to sell his home and may be moving into the home she is renting. She will be given 30 days' notice when this happens. Carol is on disability and can not afford the expenses of a move anywhere. My friend Carol is 64 years old and has spent a great deal of her life helping others, including me. Carol has been through a lot of hard times in her life just trying to survive. Because of those hardships, she will need a co-signer for any place she rents from. We would like for the co-signer to feel secure in signing for her so I am asking for a year's rent to pay in advance to make this happen. The amount I came up with will pay for that, deposits for utilities and the first month. It also includes gas and food for her to get home to SC from Georgia. Please help me show her there are still good people in this world. Please help me get Carol home to Anderson, SC so she can live her life knowing she has a roof over her head. Anything would and will help, even $1. Thank you very much.
