Carmelo ”God’s Warrior”

I want to share with you all Carmelo’s story from Elena’s words…

Carmelo was born a big healthy boy and his smile always brightened up any room. He was completely thriving up until 4 months old when he contracted RSV. He ended up hospitalized on high flow oxygen for 9 days and was sent home. Just 5 days later he was readmitted for difficulty breathing and was placed back on high for oxygen.

Although we went home just a few days later again things would continue going downhill from there. Carmelo was never able to fully recover before contracting numerous other viruses back to back. This final bout he was sick with adenovirus and influenza B. After 5 days on high for oxygen he was sent to the PICU as his respirations were steadily in the 90-100 range.

He was emergently intubated on February 10th and has been fighting for his life ever since. Two weeks went by with no notable improvement on the highest ventilator settings possible for his age and size.

Unfortunately the air escaped his lungs and began spreading into his chest cavity and abdomen making it nearly impossible for his lungs to expand. We were emergency transported via helicopter to the Nicklaus Children’s Hospital on February 25th where Carmelo is now on ECMO life support.

I have been by Carmelo’s side since the day he was born and throughout this time I haven’t left him either. He will be 6 months old in a few days and I know with our prayers and Gods healing power we will see him reach 6 years old, 16, and he’ll live a life glorifying our Lord past 60!!

As I am writing this I want to first say Thank you to every single person that is reading Carmelo’s story. We so appreciate you so very much for taking the time to read his story.

The reason for this fundraiser is to come together in support for our grand nephew Carmelito as I love to call him. But also for our niece Elena and nephew Bobby parents of Carmelo. We want to make sure that they are taken care off while they are in Nicklaus Children Hospital in Miami. So many had asked how can they help them besides all the prayers, encouragement, text messages, calls and so on that we so appreciate.

And so we decided to create this place where you can give as your heart leads you but, please also feel free to continue to pray(MUCH Prayer, MUCH Power)post, send uplifting words of encouragement, Bible scriptures, comments, or messages.

We are standing TOGETHER as a family in our faith, trusting and seeing the MIRACLES unfold before our eyes. No matter how small it may be we are still praising and glorifying our Savior for what He is doing in Carmelo. Our Lord and Savior has the FINAL WORD and His WORD never comes back VOID in Jesus name, Amen
