On January 26th Carl's Meat Market in Kittery experienced a catastrophic flood due to aged and faulty town-owned sewage pipes causing the well loved store to be close temporarily.   After finding out that Carl's insurance will not cover this type of damage the 17 employees had to be laid off while the restoration work is completed.     
All the money raised will go directly to the employees to help subsidize them during the time of reconstruction.
The moneys raised are being deposited into a separate account set up and adminisitered by Carl's Meat Markets' owner, Jim Spencer.   Employees will receive pay-outs from this fund  after all fundraising efforts are complete so ensure equal distribution.
