Local friends and neighbors -
What a crazy time we are all living through – so many different challenges and emotions. We are all worried, bored, angry and concerned. Despite all of this, at the end of the day, we all care, and are looking for ways to help. We are a community of doers and helpers but we're not sure what we can do, or how we can help. The other night a member of our community called us and said he was worried. He is worried for our frontline health care workers- and also for our small family run restaurants. He saw posts about people bringing food to our hospitals and had an idea. What if we came together as a whole and streamline our efforts? Together- through this go fund me-we can feed our health care workers while also supporting our local restaurants through carry out.
We have reached out to Beaumont GP, St. John and Cottage Hospital. We are working with Advantage Living Nursing home, who is also treating Covid patients. We are working on adding more hospitals as we go, to reach as many of our local healthcare heroes as we can. Our contacts at the hospitals have agreed to work with the individual departments/shifts to insure we are providing what they need and the food is packaged/delivered in the safest way possible. We are using the Chamber of Commerce list of local restaurants, as well as other restaurants in the area struggling during this challenge.
As members of this community, we are happy to know that we can help in some little way – we are so appreciative of you joining us in this endeavor. "We are all" in this together and together we can help to take care of our community.
Please know that every dollar collected will go directly to our local hospital employees in the form of food or supplies to support them in this fight. We are paying restaurants directly with our credit cards so there's no delay, and using fundraising dollars to reimburse. We are happy to provide receipts to anyone interested. Thank you in advance for helping to take care of those who are taking care of us!
