On August 30th, the incredible staff of Swinley Ward will be taking on a meaningful challenge — a sponsored walk all the way from Southport to Wigan — to raise funds for patients who do not have the support of family or friends.
Every day, we care for individuals who arrive at the hospital without even the most basic essentials — no toiletries, no pyjamas, no nighties. While our team does everything we can to support them with dignity and compassion, we want to go even further.
That’s why we’re walking — to raise money that will go directly towards providing basic comfort items like:
Toothbrushes and toothpaste
Soap, shampoo, and other toiletries
Pyjamas, nighties, and clean underwear
Slippers, socks, and other essentials
These small items make a huge difference in helping our patients feel clean, warm, and cared for during what is often a vulnerable and frightening time.
Why It Matters
Not every patient has someone to bring them what they need. Some have no family nearby. Others have none at all. But no one should have to go without the basics of comfort and dignity while receiving care.
This walk is more than just a fundraiser — it’s our way of walking for those who can’t, showing them that they’re not forgotten.
Our Goal
We’re hoping to raise £500 to build a small, ongoing supply of essentials that we can provide to patients in need throughout the year. Every donation — no matter how small — will help us take another step towards that goal.
