Caring for Our Community with Food
The Covid-19 virus is affecting all of us. Everyone has a story.
Our story is about food and daycare.
At Gethsemane Lutheran Church and The Camden Promise, we do food really well and our daycare provides safe, nourishing environment for the youth in our community.
We provide 3 hot meals a week to our community. We also have 5 food distribution events each week where our community leaves with bags of groceries and produce. There is also a bi-weekly food shelf that fills cabinets at home for a couple weeks.
Our daycare is home to infants to grade-school age young people. Our staff meets their needs, provides learning opportunities, and makes sure they are safe and loved.
We want to expand what we are able to do during this time difficult time of concern and need in our community.
This gofundme will allow us to do 2 things:
1. We will expand our food distribution opportunities and our ability to feed everyone that needs nourishment in our community.
2. We will provide scholarships for the children of health care workers who must work and anyone else who has a need to keep working to support their family. Caring for children should not stand in the way of people in our community supporting their families.
