Hi I am praz,
From 1st to 10th October, I’ll be taking on a tough challenge: running 7km every day for 7 days while wearing a 7kg weighted vest—all in support of the Gurkha Welfare Trust.
The Gurkhas are renowned for their courage, loyalty, and sacrifice in service to the British Army. But many veterans and their families face hardship, especially in old age. The Gurkha Welfare Trust ensures that these heroes, their widows, and their wider communities can live with dignity. They provide vital financial, medical, and community aid in Nepal through 20 Area Welfare Centres, and in the UK they support retired Gurkhas and their families as they settle into new lives.
This work began in the late 1960s, when it became clear that thousands of Gurkha veterans—many of whom had fought in the World Wars—were left without pensions or welfare support. Unlike their British comrades, they had no safety net. The Trust stepped in to make sure they would never be forgotten.
By supporting my challenge, you’re helping continue this vital mission—honouring the service of the Gurkhas and ensuring they and their families are cared for. Every donation, big or small, will make a difference.
