Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) are a major public health burden in Jamaica and have become the leading cause of death.  An estimated 7 out of 10 Jamaicans die from Heart Disease, Diabetes, Cancer, or Chronic Lower Respiratory Disease each year.  With limited access to quality primary healthcare, many Jamaicans do not receive preventive health screenings, health education or resources to prevent and manage these preventable illnesses.
 
On September 14, 2019, a dynamic team of healthcare professionals and volunteers will host a FREE community health fair for the children and families living in the Treadways District of St. Catherine, Jamaica.  With no appointment or health insurance necessary, community members will have access to critical preventive health screenings which can detect early risks for chronic conditions like diabetes, hypertension, and heart disease. 
 
Our dedicated team of licensed Registered Nurses and Nurse Practitioners will provide health promotion and disease management education, perform blood pressure checks, Body Mass Index (BMI) screening, blood glucose checks, total cholesterol screenings, prostate & breast health teaching.
 
This community health initiative will raise public health awareness and improve health outcomes for an underserved community but we cannot meet our goal without the help of individuals/companies like you/yourself.
